My child is going to be a Freshman next year, what should he/she take to be ready for Confirmation?AllFreshmen will take a year long course called “Who Is Jesus & Revelation of Jesus in Scripture & Jesus’ Mission.”  We suggest that they take Liturgy and the Sacraments and Morality their Sophomore year. This course plan will make sure they are ready for the immediate preparation class for Confirmation during their Junior year.

My child is going to be a Sophomore next year, what should he/she take to be ready for Confirmation? He/she will need to take Morality and Liturgy and the Sacraments. The order does not matter; they will take one in the Fall and the other in the Spring. If they were enrolled in Faith Formation at Epiphany last year, they may have already received credit for one or both of the above courses.  If that is the case, then they should take the course they don’t have yet and an elective. If they have both Morality and Liturgy and the Sacraments, they should take two electives this year.

My child will be a Junior, when does he/she sign up for a Confirmation Class? They will register for High School Faith Formation now, and then register for a Confirmation class beginning June 15th.  We will send them information about the parent meeting and paperwork that will need to be gathered ahead of time. Please make the following notes on your family calendar: Parent Meeting – Aug. 28th or 31st, Day Retreat – Sept. 25th from 9am-6:30pm, Weekend Retreat – Jan. 13-15, 2012.

My child is going to be a Junior, but hasn’t been involved with Faith Formation for a while. Can he/she still be Confirmed next year? What should we do?Yes, celebration of the Sacrament is possible, but there will be some extra classes to take.  Go ahead and enroll in High School Faith Formation now.  Call the Youth Office and talk with Dave Clark to develop a plan to make up the courses that were missed.  The amount of extra work will depend on how long they have been away from Faith Formation. It is possible that they will need to take the courses missed during their Junior year and then celebrate the Sacrament during their Senior year.

My child attends Catholic School, what does he/she need to do to celebrate Confirmation?Students who come to us from the Catholic schools are great assets to the faith formation classes they happen to be in.  We encourage participation at all grade levels, but only require attendance in the year long immediate preparation course for Confirmation.  Their theology courses at school are accepted in lieu of our prerequisite courses offered at Epiphany.

We moved here form a different church, what should we do? Call Dave in the Youth Office.  He can help you determine what your child’s faith formation needs are and help develop a plan for your situation.
